We urge the ACT Cabinet to support our claim for paid parental leave through the MEA

We call on the ACT Government to deliver on its commitment to close the Gender Pay Gap in Canberra and support the ACT Community Sector Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA)

Australian Services Union members on the MEA are frontline community workers in the ACT who provide essential community services to some of the most vulnerable residents of Canberra.

We work at services such as Canberra Rape Crisis Centre, Canberra Community Law, Women’s Health matters, Mental Health Community Coalition and Women’s Legal Service.

We currently receive no funding for paid parental leave by the ACT Government, our main funding body.

Rest assured though, ASU members have a plan to close the gender pay gap in Canberra’s community sector and retain professional and passionate workers in these vital services.

We have launched a case in the Fair Work Commission, but we need the ACT Government to come to the table and support the funding of a parental leave entitlement for MEA workers.  It’s time to move towards parity with the public sector and close the gender pay gap in Canberra’s community sector by supporting our claim for paid parental leave.

Email the members of the ACT Cabinet and remind them why paid parental leave is so important!

We are seeking ACT Government to support the funding proposal for 14 weeks of paid parental leave through the ACT Multi-Employer Agreement.

Email the members of the ACT Cabinet and remind them why this is so important!

We know that there has been an increase in need for these vital local services and this is a way to continue to maintain professional and passionate workers within the sector.

Thank you for standing with ASU members on the local community sector MEA.
